Elemental's "Twitter updates" widget skipping tweets with embedded URLs
|
Hi, Any ideas why that widget skips over tweets with URLs? |
|
Hmmm... the "Twitter updates" widget situation is worse than it seemed. I made about 7 tweets in all today, some with URLs and some without, and it missed tweets of both types. In fact, the widget ended up showing only 3 of the 7 in the end, and a couple of those took quite a while to appear within the widget--a delay is normal I presume? (In contrast, deleting the shown tweets from within Twitter.com caused those displayed tweets to disappear from the widget immediately.) After those tweet deletions, I am down to only 1 tweet displaying in the widget, and it is ignoring my subsequent tweets. To see this behavior, you can go to http://www.geartweakers.com and click on the small link within the widget to view the full list of tweets on Twitter.com... you can see that not all my tweets are captured by the widget. Is the widget broken? |

Update: the widget does appear to have an issue. After waiting a couple hours to see if my last few tweets might mysteriously appear (they did not), I tried installing a plug-in that support Twitter updates. I placed the new plug-in's Twitter widget in my site's homepage sidebar, directly below Elemental's twitter updates widgets. By clicking on the link in my above post, you see that the Elemental twitter-widget fails to show my last couple of tweets, whereas the free twitter-widget below it is working. I really want to Elemental to function properly... I tried removing the Elemental widget and then adding it back to the sidebar, but it came back with the same missing tweets. |

This sounds very strange to me. I've not had any problems with it myself but using a different Twitter Widget is perfectly ok (maybe even better since it was designed for a single purpose and will have been tested by more people). Could you give me a link to the Twitter Widget you are now using so I can compare the code in them? |

It is very strange I completely agree, Ben. Twitter Widget Pro is what I tried: It has a lot of good comments from users and seems to be currently (and actively) supported by its maker. |

I had problems with various twitter widgets. Most of the time it was a connectivity issue with twitter. |

I've seen a few places where the Twitter api won't return certain tweets or just ignores the user entirely. It's rather strange and seems quite temperamental. Basically all the elemental widget does is display what is returned from the twitter api so I'm not sure why it would be different to other widgets. |
