My problem is that when I have a category and a subcategory (let's say category 'sports' and subcategory 'tennis') and I post a new article using the category 'tennis', the new article appears twice (both categories 'sports' and 'tennis'). Of course I want the new article to appear just once.
What have I done wrong? (When posting I just chose the subcategory 'tennis' for the article and not the main category...)

Thanks for the help in advance.

Well the subcategory uses the parent category for everything so really the only way to fix this (that I can think of) is to move the subcategory to a parent category. So your list would be "sports" "tennis" "golf" etc.

thanks for the fast answer, but that's not a real solution I can live with.
On the Mimbo Demosite (http://demo.prothemedesign.com/wordpress/mimbo-pro/) there are also subcategories and they seem to work like a charm. There are even sub-subcategories (health - disease and illness -virus). And I don't think that the virus-article appeared on the homepage 3 times... (as category 'health', as subcat 'disease...' and as the article 'virus' itself).
Maybe someone else can help - thanks for your effort anyway.

On the demo site the code is edited so it only displays 3 categories (Disease, electronics, politics) so I don't see what you are trying to say.

Good luck though.

I'm a bit confused.
What's the use of subcategories good for if any posting using subcategories causes the article to appear twice on the homepage?
It makes no sense (for me).

Subcategories are used to be more specific on a particular topic (e.g. sports -->tennis, golf, etc) It is still intended to use that parent category since it is in that category.

Do you have a live example of what you are saying?

Hi - Mimbo Pro 2 is set up to only display 1 copy of each post in the category summaries on the homepage so if you're not seeing this behaviour and you have the latest version of the theme then something has probably been removed somewhere.

It would help if you posted a link to your site so that we can see the problem itself
