Carousel woes

I've read a lot of pages and tried a lot of things but I just can't get the carousel working correctly. At the moment, I have 17 photos on the site (talkofaventura.com) yet only two show in the carousel. I've had as many as six in there. But it seems when I load a new photo, something else falls out of the carousel, sometimes two. I've played with the categories and by selecting the ones with art rather than the default all, I made some temporary gains.
The most perplexing is the photo with the one entry in the 'history' category. I can understand that at some point recent posts can slide the photo so low it won't get picked up. But there is just one item in the 'history' category and its photo has fallen out of the carousel. Is the carousel posting date sensitive?
There don't seem to be many moving parts on the control panel and I'm not code savvy so I haven't played with that. Whatever code was originally there is still there. Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Looks like you're using v2.1, which was deliberately designed not to feature redundant content in the upper part of the homepage, thus stories are not shared across the "Recent Stories" module and carousel if they're identical. But, the user feedback we got explained that this was confusing, so with v2.2 we reverted.

What Darren is saying is it should fix itself if you update the version you have installed :)

You can get the latest version from http://account.prothemedesign.com

Thanks, gents. I have updated to 2.8.1... and the problem continues. Today I've got just three photos in the carousel from two dozen available. The very first entry in the category beneath the carousel has a picture that isn't showing in the carousel. Any other suggestions?
