I have an extremely simple question, but am new at all of this. I love the look of Elemental, but wanted to know if the image thumbnail resizing is automatic and must be implemented? Is it possible to run each post with a larger more central image?

Hey!

Sometimes to make images smaller I use WordPress' inbuilt 'make smaller' filter.

It all looks ok in FF, but in IE6 and IE7 the images end up looking contorted, squashed. Any ideas why?

Example: the advert down the side of the page at:

http://www.thewebeditor.com/2010/03/spanish-golf-resort-joins-the-registry-collection/

Thanks a million!

Hi!

I can successfully publish picture in the articles on my web site http://www.utflyktskane.se/

I also could shift the header picture.

But pictures, published in the articles, will not show on the first page at http://www.utflyktskane.se/
It looks like the link to the picture is broken.

What should I do to avoid this?

Thanks ahead,

Hey!

I tried making a post sticky so it would stay in the main top-left container where the latest news generally goes.

However this just breaks the container and the latest news post simply sits underneath the sticky post.

How can I resolve this?

See how it looks here:

I use The Local theme and a lot of my posts include people and the cropping from the middle is not helpful. Also, can TimThumb be set to maintain aspect ratio?

Hey!

Ok so I have a section of the site that's focused on magazines.

Each post has a precis of a magazine.

The category is called Magazine issues

In the sidebar I have the widget that lets you show more content from the same category. It typically says: "Also in..." and the category name.

This is fine for all other categories except this one. For posts in this category I need that panel to say:

"Other Magazine issues"

How can I change this so it says that only for posts in this category?

I'm not sure what exactly is going on with the Text widget (for "adding arbitrary text or HTML"), but when I'm within the Widget control panel, the text will often revert to older text (even though I have saved and exited from that page) or even disappear entirely.

Sometimes this results in the older text posting or sometimes the new text does seem to be okay after I've saved and gone to observe the front page.

This makes it difficult if I want to go back and tweak the text: it is either entirely invisible in the Widget interface, or reflects an earlier version of that text (again, only in the interface, but not in the published page).

Is the widget corrupted?

Any suggestions, as I'm puzzled...

I know the theme supports up to 10 tabs -- each tab being its own aggregation page.

My question is can each tab have sub categories that, when clicked, launch individual pages that are also RSS aggregation pages?

I want to have a sports page where the major tabs are various college conferences (Big10, Pac10, SEC, ACC, MEAC, Big EAST, etc.). These major tabs would have general RSS aggreagtion stories about the conference in general on them.

Then, I would like each of these major tabs to have a drop down listing each team in the conference as a separate sub-category such that, when clicked, will launch a RSS aggregation page of news about that school's sports teams.

Thanks for your time and assistance in this matter! Great looking theme!

Based on the activity log when you click on a tab, it seems to wait until all of the feeds have loaded before showing the page. Some of the feed requests take longer and the page doesn't load until the last request is completed.

Comparing to your demo the load time is significantly longer. My host MediaTemple is suggesting it is not a host issue and recommends:

"Set up the feeds to be loaded based on a cron. You can have this run every 5 minutes to be up-to-date. That way it does not make external requests for every page load, when it doesn't need to be instantly dynamic."

BTW: Cache timeout is set to 30 minutes.

Here's my site for reference: http://www.itsplat.com/

Hey there!

Can you help me address three issues with Mimbo Pro relating to the alignment of content in IE7:

1. On the main story at the top of the category page, text butts up to the image on the left. See example here:

http://www.thewebeditor.com/category/fractional/

2. The RSS button sits outside of main story panel - and needs to go inside. Is there a way of doing this?
3. There's no obvious clickable link to full posts from the secondary stories in category pages. How do I add a 'full story' box including link to the bottom of each of the secondary stories (Fractional Summit in the US, etc). The reason I removed this from the lead story on each category page is because in IE6, on the home page, the Lead Story box and link ended up sitting IN FRONT of the drop-down nav elements; I couldn't figure a way of positioning this box anywhere else but to the right of the container, which led it to sit only halfway across the lead story on each category page.

Guidance here would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hello I am using Elemental and have a post category that I wish to appear in a small sidebar carousel. These posts will be like daily mini-posts or quick tips and I do not want them cluttering up the home page. I see in wordpress documentation that I can exclude posts from a category:
http://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop#Exclude_Posts_From_Some_Category

The problem I frequently run into is I do not yet understand how and where the many loops for elemental live, and what the best practices are for tweaking them.

1.Could you please spare me hours of trial and error and point me in the right direction of exactly which section of code to edit so I can exlcude posts from a specific category from the main page. I've searched for about 30min then thought I should post here.

2. Could you provide here or point me to a quick and easy to understand primer on the location and functionality of loops in the Elemental template and how they should be edited, especially in regards to child themes.
With some quick guidance I should be able to figure out my question to #1 and many other questions in the future.

Thanks!

Can someone point me to a tutorial on translating the site. On the main support page there is a list of language files but no "how-to" instructions or link. I've searched the site and forum, again no "how-to" tutorial is recommended. In both the es_ES.mo and es_ES.po files I don't see any comments explaining what to do, nor do I see any "readme.txt" file on the "lang" folderof the theme.

I don't know if this is something that is obvious and I am a total idiot, regardless I would love a link for translation instructions, and would suggest putting a link on the support page with the translation listings for others.
