Personally I would set up a custom field to add the URL of the image you wish to display and add conditional code to the header.php file.

You can see more information about custom fields in the WordPress Codex: http://codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Fields

If you're new to WordPress or PHP then it may be easiest to hire someone to do this for you, it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to setup.

Hi,
I'm using The Local.
I would like to add a picture or a video after the top menu like on this website http://www.tignes.net/fr/ski-a-tignes/ski-d-ete-210.html
Of course i need to have a different picture for different pages or posts. So I think the best way is to include a widget zone but i don't know how to do this and where. I think i have to use the mainContent zone no ?
Can you help me ? Do you have other ideas ?
Thanks for your help.

I would recommend using a web browser which understand modern technologies such as HTML 5 and CSS 3.

Internet Explorer has little support for web standards so advise you to consider using Safari, Firefox or Chrome for your web browsing.

Thanks Ben.

I switched from using AOL to access my control panel to using Internet Explorer. Then, the control panel widget function worked properly.

AOL's viewing of widgets and web columns overlaps the columns over the widgets on the right hand side. I assume this overlapping somehow screws up the proper functioning of the drag and drop of the widgets into the columns.

I will just use IE when I have this type of problem.

Thanks for your response.
Hubert

I removed two widgets (calendar and links) from column one. Then, I tried to add them back but they won't load. What should I do?

The Twitter Widget in The Local is quite basic, it was designed as a simple way to pull in Tweets. I am sure that if you look around you will be able to find a free Twitter Plugin that would do everything you need. Any widget you download can be used with The Local so download and use whatever you like :)

I would like to re-purpose the Local twitter update widget to pull a Twitter List rather than pulling tweets based on geographical location. Or, have the ability to designate multiple twitter accounts within a widget, but using the List capability seems like the cleanest way to aggregate multiple author tweets.

Do you mean the "Local Twitter Updates" widget or the "Twitter updates" widget?

I've just checked and can confirm they both work on the demo.

Can you post your site URL (and activate the relevant widget) so I can see the problem and hopefully get a quick solution?

Hi, I see that there was a thread about this issue a month ago. Is there a solution yet?

Irrespective of page, location or column to which the widget is dragged, it does not show on the site.

Thanks!

Was this a "One Click Install" through your web host or did you manually upload and setup WordPress? Sometimes when using the "One Click Install" option it doesn't create the most clean code.

Very strange error, certainly one I've never come across before.

There is no "quick fix" but completing a clean install onto a fresh database (ie create a new one) will likely fix the problem. You can then export / import the content from the existing install so you won't lose any data.

That's a cool idea. I think with the new post images functionality built into WordPress this is the sort of thing that will come with a future core update anyway. I think building this into the theme is not appropriate as firstly it's modifying core code, and secondly it's something a dedicated plugin could do a lot better.

It would be great to have the option to add thumbnail images to the default WP Recent post widget.

I tried doing this myself but I cannot get it to work with TimThumb. Mainly because I have very little coding ability.

You can use Widget Logic to have a separate title for a specific category, use this code for the specific category (within the widget admin page):

is_category('xxx')

and this code for the other categories in a separate widget:

!is_category('xxx')
